Live Doctor Who show heading to Ipswich for London 2012 Festival

An interactive Doctor Who show in Ipswich has been announced as part of next summer's London 2012 Festival celebrations.

‘The Crash of The Elysium’, a live adventure for children and their families, will play from 15 June – 8 July 2012.
Created by Punchdrunk, the award-winning pioneers in immersive theatre, the show is a live Doctor Who theatre adventure in which the audience is the star.
Following confirmation of Arts Council England funding, there will be three different types of performance in 2012 – schools performances, family performances for 7–12 year olds and performances for those aged 13 and above.
Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival Director Ruth Mackenzie said: ‘I’m delighted that we can confirm that Ipswich will be the host for this brilliant show.
'The production will be a highlight of the London 2012 Festival and is sure to be a hot ticket. Our thanks go to Arts Council England for their funding support.’
'Huge event for the region'
The show will be presented at Ipswich Arts Festival (Ip-art) by Manchester International Festival, the London 2012 Festival, the New Wolsey Theatre and Ipswich Borough Council, supported by Arts Council England and Suffolk County Council.
Ipswich Borough Council Leader David Ellesmere said: ‘This is fantastic news and something the Council is really pleased to be a partner in.
'The Crash of the Elysium will be a huge event for Ipswich and the region in 2012. It will also be a welcome boost for the local economy as it will bring thousands of people into the town.’
Tickets for 'The Crash of The Elysium' will be available from the New Wolsey Theatre in early 2012.
