Last day for Paralympic Games ticket applications

With applications for tickets to next year's Paralympic Games set to close at 6pm this evening, the London 2012 Organising Committee has confirmed that there is still good availability across many sports and sessions.

Applications can be made at www.tickets.london2012.com until 6pm today,  Monday 26 September.
For the first time in Paralympic history, sessions across several sports are oversubscribed a year out – including Track Cycling, Swimming, and the final rounds of Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Tennis.
Day pass tickets for the Olympic Park, ExCeL and The Royal Artillery Barracks are still available, giving spectators the opportunity to see several sports throughout the day – including medal sessions – for just £10 each.
Highlights of next year's Paralympic Games will include:

• South African Oscar Pistorius defending his titles in three events: the 100m T44 final on Thursday 6 September, the 200m T44 final on Sunday 2 September and the 400m T44 final on Saturday 8 September. Strong competition is expected from his rival Jerome Singleton (USA) in the 100m and 200m

• Britain’s David Weir, who will be looking to replicate his victories from Beijing 2008 in the 800m and 1500m on Thursday 6 September (800m semi-final and final) and Tuesday 4 September (1500m semi-final and final)

• The British Wheelchair Basketball team, which won bronze at Beijing 2008 and are current European champions. They are likely to be involved on 8 September in the classification and medal matches – a limited amount of tickets still remain in the lower price categories

• A £10 day pass at ExCeL on 1 or 2 September, potentially allowing spectators to see Will Bailey as he goes for gold in Table Tennis for ParalympicsGB – as well as watching the Powerlifting finals and Boccia preliminaries

• The British Boccia team that took gold at Beijing 2008 and will be looking to go for gold again at ExCeL on 4 September. A £10 day pass on this day could also provide access to medal events in Powerlifting and Wheelchair Fencing

• Ellie Simmonds who, at the age of just 13, burst onto the scene at Beijing 2008 and won two medals. There is still some availability for tickets to see Ellie in action, particularly in the lower price categories for sessions where she may compete on 1 September, 3 September, 4 September and 8 September
  

• British powerlifter Zoe Newson, who became the junior world champion in 2010 and will be going for gold in the 40kg category on 30 August

• Road cycling at Brands Hatch, where medals will be won at every session between 5 September and 8 September
